Who are Pumping Marvellous

So who are Pumping Marvellous?

Written by Patients for Patients

Pumping Marvellous was a vision created by Nick Hartshorne-Evans and the East Lancashire Heart Failure Team. Nick was diagnosed with Cardiomyopathy caused by a virus. At 39 he was one of the youngest people in the East Lancashire Primary Care Trust to suffer from this condition but with the Heart Failure Nurse Team Manager Angela Graves they both decided that awareness is better than denial. This site tells of Nick Hartshorne-Evans’s journey from symptoms to understanding and management of the condition. It gives a Patients slant on Heart Failure and that the description does not accurately portray the condition.

Our challenge is to offer an innovative service that inspires Heart Failure patients to be aware of their condition it’s effects and how to self-manage more effectively thus preventing acute hospitalisation. If we achieve this then it will reduce costs throughout the care chain whilst adding another element of improvement to Heart Failure care. We are nimble and can therefore react without having to go through layers of authority thus reacting appropriately.

Patients of the East Lancashire Primary Care Trust also regularly input into Pumping Marvellous so it should give you a relaxed and informative read.

Although we work alongside and help patients who are being cared for by the NHS East Lancashire Hospital Trust and occasionaly ask their opinion on our work they have no liability as to the information that is posted on this website. The posts and commentary are our opinions. You must always consult your clinician before you alter your treatment.
